A fantastic evening dedicated to traditional Chinese music and performance art awaits when the Xi’an Orchestra and vocal soloists bring the characteristic sonic worlds of their homeland to life with unparalleled virtuosity. Xi’an-style drumming is one of the focuses of the concert, a unique artform declared part of the world’s and China’s national cultural heritage. The musicians of the Xi’an Orchestra play such fascinating instruments as glockenspiel and bianqing, a kind of stone xylophone, the Chinese zithers guqin, se and zhazheng, the wind instrument xun and the harp konghou. In a performance that is richly colorful and has its very own sound, the guests from China will take the audience on a journey to the epoch of the Tang dynasty, impressively portrayed through traditional songs, compositions and choreographies.
