Star oboist Albrecht Mayer returns to the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival for one evening after almost ten years. He will perform with one of the oldest orchestras still in existence in the world: the Mecklenburg State Orchestra in Schwerin. Mayer's musical home is with the Berlin Philharmonic, and in Mecklenburg, he will revive the era of "Ludwigslust Classicism."

We delve into the era of Mozart and offer two of his works and one by his contemporary Johann Matthias Sperger. Sperger was the most innovative double bassist of his time. His 18 virtuoso double bass concertos testify to this. With the eighth, he presented the audience with a truly aural delight and the soloist with a work of dazzling difficulty. We have invited double bassist Mikyung Sung, who, with her virtuoso performances, temperament, and outstanding playing technique, draws entirely new facets from her instrument, delighting audiences and the press in the USA, Mexico, Singapore, and South Korea.
