In his “Pastoral” Symphony, Beethoven flings open the doors of the concert hall, attuning his symphonic craft to the natural world like never before. Optimism, joy and thankfulness combine in the face of Nature’s raging storms. Charles Corey’s Together, This Journey was originally commissioned and composed in collaboration with members of Northwest Center and Best Buddies communities to be part of its 2020 Beethoven Festival celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. And João Guilherme Ripper’s Cinco poemas de Vinicius de Moraes for soprano and orchestra links together five poems by Moraes to create a biographical journey of the man nicknamed "O Poetinha."
