German violinist Clara-Jumi Kangnous leads us into a fabulous display of virtuosity and lyricism with Prokofiev's Second Concerto . The irresistible melody of the Andante assai opens a visual world echoed in Gustav Holst's fascinating Planets . Having inspired John Williams's Star Wars score , this unique score draws on astrology to paint a musical portrait of the planets.

An all-Canadian cast, featuring four distinguished soloists and the Orchestra's Chorus, features in this highly anticipated performance of Dvořák's Stabat Mater , directed by Nyco Desmeules. From its premiere in 1880 in Prague, this essential treasure of Romantic sacred music revealed the composer's genius on the international stage.

Music as if it came from ancient times, driven by earthly forces, ancestral rhythms, original chants with universal resonances: this is how Carl Orff imagined his Carmina Burana. He chose 24 secular poems from a 13th-century collection, discovered in a Bavarian abbey, to compose a monumental stage cantata. The work opens and closes with the famous O Fortuna, a bewitching, powerful, and simply unforgettable chorus.
