The School of Music Career Chat Series introduces students to professionals who have taken multifaceted routes to success in the music industry. Each session features a candid conversation with a guest artist, where students will get the chance to ask questions directly, hear behind-the-scenes stories, and gain insight into the many ways a music career can unfold.

The program for the evening includes works by some of today's most exciting composers, such as Caroline Shaw, Leilehua Lanzilotti, Angelica Negrón, Peter Shin, William Brittelle, and more, featuring pieces from their latest recording, "Rough Magic." This performance promises to expand your understanding of what the human voice can achieve, combining artistry and experimentation in a celebration of vocal music.

The event is set to proceed rain or shine, with arrangements in place to move under the fully covered Venetian Theater tent in case of bad weather.

Transportation is made easy with a free shuttle service from Metro North’s Katonah train station, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees. Remember to bring your own chairs and/or blankets, as Friends Field is a large open lawn with no built-in seating.

SLSO string players summon intense color and bold abstraction. Quartets take us on kaleidoscopic journeys through Sky Macklay’s angular reimagination of the familiar cadence and Molly Joyce’s reflection on perfection. Michael Gordon and Leilehua Lanzilotti revel in the emotive beauty of solo instruments. A lone marimba breaks up the string party in Andy Akiho’s virtuosic and percussive banger.

Aloha kākou! SFCM students Justin Park and Meli Everson invite you to a student-led Maui Benefit Concert: an evening where the Bay Community shows support for Lahaina following the Maui wildfires. The concert's theme is Pūpūkahi i holomua - United we move forward. We will be raising funds for the Hawaii Community Foundation - Maui Strong Fund, and are excited to share music and cultures from around the world to express support and compassion during these times.

Praised for playing with “supreme melodic control and total authority” and “decided dramatic impact” (Calgary Herald), the Argus Quartet has quickly emerged as one of today’s most dynamic and versatile ensembles, winning First Prize at both the 2017 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition and the 2017 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. They will perform an evening of new music by contemporary indigenous artists including  Ahupua’a by 2022 Pulitzer finalist Leilehua Lanzilotti.
