Who was Dvořák thinking of when he enriched the traditional string quartet with a double bass? Mozart and his A Little Night Music ? Or the Bohemian orchestras, itinerant from village to village? It is true that his Second String Quintet , full of the scent of the Czech land, has no equal, with its limping dumka rhythm and the elegy of the Poco Andante . Nothing comes close either to the Bagatelles for two violins and cello, to which the somewhat awkward tones of the harmonium give a popular scent, between laughter and tears.

A Berliozian by temperament, Stéphanie d'Oustrac is one of those singers whose commitment to the text is absolute. A loyal member of the Orchestre National de France this season, since she sang Marguerite from  La Damnation de Faust three days earlier, she became a melodist for this Jubilee concert, with the  Summer Nights cycle  in a version for strings. Then it was the turn of pianist Guillaume Bellom to join the soloists of the National for the very festive  Septet  by  Saint-Saëns . The  perfect setting for the 90th anniversary.

NATIONAL JUBILEE 2/5 - National Mornings

Gabriel Fauré's timbre rises again on this Sunday morning, in the fullness of his chamber music, which includes his richest pages. The soloists of the National gather around Emmanuel Strosser in the First Quintet , then, alone facing Tchaikovsky, sing his Souvenirs de Florence in six voices – a story of rehearing that dream of a Serenade born while contemplating the Arno.

FAURÉ ANNIVERSARY 2/3 - The Mornings of the National

The lion, the rooster, the elephant, the swan, the long-eared characters, and even the pianist, that "digitigrade concertivorous mammal..." Francis Blanche jokes, are all found pell-mell in The Carnival of the Animals , which Saint-Saëns refused to see performed during his lifetime, no doubt for fear of appearing unserious. Seeing the menagerie incomplete, Guillaume Connesson gave it a sequel and imagined grazing, in the musical zoo of Jurassic Trip , six historical miniatures ranging from the tyrannosaurus to the pterodactyl. Adults allowed.
