This multifaceted program, full of changing emotions, is characterized by the beautiful combination of a lower female voice or tenor and cello, for which the piano provides the foundation. This foundation is based on Romantic vocal compositions by Johannes Brahms and Peter I. Tchaikovsky, as well as works from other eras, such as Dmitri Shostakovich and Jean Sibelius. Cello and piano can also be heard in duos and solo performances, for example, in pieces by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Mstislav Rostropovich.
