After the first Clash of the Cellos delighted and enthralled three sold-out audiences two years ago, the message was clear: More Cello! We now present Clash II, with an all-new program that again showcases the cello's rich and inspiring sound, in music of Sondheim, Satie, De Falla, Puccini, Bizet, Gershwin and much more. With the return of heart-melting mezzo-soprano Jeanne Ireland for some all-time operatic favorites. Great for the whole family!

The typical piano quintet would usually feature a string quartet (two violins, viola, cello) with piano. As Schubert had done for his Trout Quintet, both Hummel and Vaughan Williams replaced one of the violins with double bass, adding power and warmth to the sound. The Vaughan Williams quintet debuted in 1905, yet was not performed a second time until 1995. Once you hear it you will wonder why.

The Pierrot Consort has performed at Merkin Concert Hall, Weill Recital Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Bartok Society at Saranac Lake, the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Conn., BOCES, the Stockbridge Chamber Concerts in Great Barrington, Mass., the St. Paul Chapel Series at Columbia University and for the Islip Arts Council. The artist members of the ensemble are actively involved in the musical life of New York City and have a commitment to the cultural enrichment of Long Island.
