The Salzburg Chamber Orchestra—a line-up of the Salzburg State Wind Orchestra—brings together talented musicians passionately exploring new avenues of music-making. Founded in 2022 by conductor Gregor Kovačič, the ensemble pursues the goal of setting innovative impulses and exploring new forms of collaboration. The result is a flexible chamber orchestra of around 27 musicians, whose works are specially arranged and tailored to the instrumentation. This enables artistic performances of the highest caliber. The ensemble has already collaborated with renowned artists such as flautist Martin Belič, actress Bina Blumencron, singer Johanna Zachhuber, and clarinetist Bernhard Mitmesser. Performances at the Salzburg Festival, IMAGO Sloveniae, and the Innsbruck Promenade Concerts underscore the orchestra's rapid establishment on the music scene. The Salzburg Chamber Orchestra impresses with its intimate, nuanced sound and captivating stage presence. The current program includes Sergei Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme by Corelli, Op. 42, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, Op. 33, and Igor Stravinsky's Petrushka. The soloist is Florian Simma, principal cellist of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. The works were specially arranged for this ensemble by conductor Gregor Kovačič.
