As part of the SMCQ’s 60th anniversary celebrations, themed Intergenerational Dialogues, the Orchestre de l’Agora presents a concert combining classics and new works from Quebec’s orchestral music scene. Works by Jacques Hétu and Claude Vivier will be joined by two world premieres by Alexandre David and Maggie Ayotte (commissioned by the Agora Orchestra). Conducted by guest conductor Benoit Gauthier, with soloists Marina Thibeault, Thomas Beard and Noémie Caron-Marcotte.

Experience an electrifying evening with the London Symphony Orchestra as they present a captivating concert featuring the works of Vivier, Haydn, and Bartók. Under the baton and voice of the multi-talented Barbara Hannigan, both conductor and soprano, the evening will explore miracles and myths through music that spans the surreal to the celestial.

The concert will open with Claude Debussy's "Syrinx for Solo Flute," a piece that evokes the desperate escape of the nymph Syrinx from the god Pan, performed by Gareth Davies, LSO Principal Flute. This will be followed by Jean Sibelius' "Luonnotar," a work that delves into the origins of the earth, and Claude Vivier's "Orion," which takes the audience on a journey through the mysteries of outer space. The first half will conclude with Golfam Khayam's "Je ne suis pas une fable à conter," inspired by the rich tapestry of Persian carpets.

After the interval, the orchestra will present Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 39, a piece that combines delicacy with determination, and Béla Bartók's "The Miraculous Mandarin Suite," a thrilling score that defies death itself.

Join us for an electrifying evening of contemporary music with the Esprit Orchestra at the NEW WAVE 1 concert. This remarkable event will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 7:00 pm in the prestigious TD Music Hall, located within the Allied Music Centre at 178 Victoria St.

Under the baton of the esteemed conductor Alex Pauk, the concert will feature an array of talented artists including violin virtuoso Mark Fewer, and innovative composers Sophie Dupuis and Roydon Tse. The program promises a night of captivating performances with works that include Dupuis' "L'histoire que les vague racontent 2021-2022" for 14 musicians and live electroacoustics, and Tse's "Mobilize 2022" for sinfonietta.
