New York – a sea of ​​houses full of dens of iniquity and criminal hideouts. And in the middle of it all, an oasis of peace: the house of the Brewster sisters. No one is turned away at their door. And Abby and Martha Brewster's tea parties with quince jam, cookies, and homemade elderberry wine are famous. Even the pastor and the police regularly meet to chat with these pious and charming ladies, who otherwise mainly care for their, well, somewhat headstrong nephew Teddy. Mortimer, Teddy's brother, and Elaine, the pastor's daughter, have also found happiness here. Everything seems peaceful and blissful.
