Opéra Comédie

The cello, with its rich timbre, its vibrato that brings the sound to life, and its unparalleled velvety sound, is the instrument that is said to come closest to the human voice. It is therefore quite natural that the cello voice of Cyrille Tricoire de Haro, supersolo cellist of the Orchestre National Montpellier, dialogues with that of the soprano Hwanyoo Lee, in this abundant and eclectic program, rich in emotion.

Listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Pansori is a unique dramatic art form in Korea. In this "one-voice opera," a singer embodies all the characters in turn. Discovered last season with * Fire and Tears* , Ko Yeong-yeol is a leading figure in the modern reinterpretation of Korean musical heritage, making this ancestral art accessible to all generations without betraying its essence. In this new production, he is joined by the Montpellier National Orchestra. Together, they open a dialogue between three cultures and three ways of inhabiting folk song. Canteloube collected and elevated the laments of shepherds from the Auvergne region; Kodály did the same with the peasant dances and songs of Hungary. Composer and performer Soo Yeon Lyuh summons the haegeum, a Korean instrument with a profoundly human timbre, to weave an unexpected link between these worlds. A striking encounter where symphonic grandeur meets the raw power of Korean song.

Korean Summer Rite

Following the success of his previous appearances, conductor Diego Ceretta is delighted to reunite with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra national Montpellier Occitanie, prepared by Noëlle Gény. He offers us a rare and contrasting diptych, where the genius of Beethoven engages in dialogue with the tragic fervor of Cherubini.
