Harpsichordist Jean Rondeau and drummer Tancrède D. Kummer are familiar with the thin line stretched between interpretation, improvisation, and creation, which inspires them to create pristine and unclassifiable artistic projects. Conceived as a derivative of the form of Bach's Goldberg Variations , UNDR closely captures a writing of a protean nature, both personal and collective, logical yet random, transcended by gesture. Drawing on the Icelandic root of " undr " (wonder), the two composer-performers also summon in a broad polyphony the words of Valère Novarina, Shura Rusanova, and Ezra Pound, and imbue their reappropriation with the wonder that characterizes their connection to music and their quest for poetry.
