Fan’s choice: Pick your performance, pick your Rachmaninoff symphony! Rachmaninoff’s dark, brooding First Symphony swirls with drama and mystery, while his Second is warm and melodious. The heart of this brilliantly hued program is the world premiere of a new concerto created for Principal Bassoon Daniel Matsukawa by Clarice Assad, a Brazilian-American composer hailed for her evocative colors, rich textures, and stylistic range.
