The Orchestra presents a Sunday afternoon celebration of women composers beginning with Fanny Mendelssohn, the older sister of the composer Felix Mendelssohn. Overture in C Major, her only composition ever for orchestra alone, debuted at one of her private salon concerts in 1834. It remained unpublished during her lifetime and was only published in 1994.
