Conducting is the most natural way for her to communicate music, says conductor Erina Yashima. And this style is extremely well received by orchestras, audiences and critics. The Hamburger Abendblatt called her a "new star in the conductor's sky". For the first time, she is now rising in Frankfurt. The German-Japanese conductor, First Kapellmeister at the Komische Oper in Berlin, is at home in the Eastern European and Russian late romantic period. To be more precise: she is currently in her Dvořák phase, a composer who is very dear to her heart, says Erina Yashima. The woman with the dancing agility at the podium introduces herself here with the "Winter Dreams" Symphony by Peter Tchaikovsky, which revels in its dark sound, and also presents a work by the Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom and Camille Saint-Saëns' 1st Cello Concerto. The soloist is Bryan Cheng, also a debutant with the hr Symphony Orchestra. The cellist, who was born in Canada and lives in Berlin, has recently taken part in some of the world's most prestigious international competitions with great success, with his immediately appealing, bright yet warm tone, which he uses on the Stradivarius cello "Dubois" from 1699.
