Dancing is liberating. When the body moves and the heart beats faster, the head becomes free and the mind calm. Igor Stravinsky's great ballet Le Sacre du Printemps in 1913 was a liberating blow for rhythm, sound and harmony - a scandal for the audience at the premiere in Paris. Maurice Ravel's symphonic poem La Valse was also commissioned by the Ballets Russes and their director Sergei Diaghilev in 1920, but was then rejected: the piece had become too dark, too destructive. Schubert freed himself from the shackles of the traditional sonata form with his F minor Fantasy in 1828; the main theme of the first movement, which returns in the last, is reminiscent of a Hungarian dance with its dotted rhythm. Now the celebrated young piano duo of the brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen invites you to a liberating dance on 88 keys (in Schubert's version) and 176 keys - and complements the brotherly togetherness with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's virtuoso four-hand Andante and Allegro brilliant op. 92. A celebration of rhythm and freedom.
