Let it be on the lute? Beatles songs as quiet string magic? Why not - at least that's what the musician who is considered the "Eric Clapton of the lute" thinks. Thomas Dunford, son of a French gambist and an American violinist, chose the lute as his instrument at the tender age of nine, but is by no means satisfied with their conventional repertoire. In his very special night music, Dunford combines Beatles with Dowland, Imagine with Come again and the King of Denmark's Galliard - and crowns the encounter of old and new with his own pieces. Blind Man is one of them, That's so you another (by which he may be referring to his wife, the French-Italian mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre), We are the ocean a third.
