An unaccompanied folk song, I will give my love an apple , simple singing. A sonata for violin, viola da gamba and bass. Folk songs, ballads, songs by Henry Purcell, lute songs and solo improvisations for theorbo, plus virtuoso string music. All of this can be experienced on this very British and very baroque evening, which the lutenist Andreas Arend has conceived for and with Clare Wilkinson, Veronika Skuplik and Hille Perl. Ballads within a Dream is the title of the concert, which pays homage to the rich tradition of the "fairest isle". You can experience a musical homage to elves and nymphs with tender sounds full of longing for love, shy magic and a touch of high spirits: music that could have come from Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream . Perhaps you will be as enchanted at the end as Titania in this play: “Sing once more!” sighs the enchanted fairy queen, “my ear is completely in love with your melody!”
