An era before the dawn of civilization, a world in harmony: that is the Golden Age , which ancient mythology uses to describe the peaceful, original state of humanity. Later, the term was used to describe many cultural heydays. In English music, it coincides with the reign of Elizabeth I in the second half of the 17th century. The Golden Age program by Russian soprano Julia Lezhneva goes beyond this framework, supplementing English ayres from the Renaissance with baroque arias from France and Italy, among other places. The 18th century was also quite golden. Lezhneva's voice itself is also golden: the New York Times described it as "angelic," and the artistry of the singer, who has a particular love of baroque music, is praised everywhere. She sings even the most absurd coloraturas with striking naturalness. And she always has her most important motto with her. "The voice," says Julia Lezhneva, "is the sound of the soul."
