Mozart himself sat at the piano in Vienna's "Mehlgrube" to premiere his first piano concerto in a minor key on February 11, 1785. His father Leopold listened and praised the work he had completed the day before. D minor, of all things: the key of the overture to "Don Giovanni" and then of course the "Requiem."
