Instrumentation details. The tourist was Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, the key was B minor, the sketched work was the overture "The Hebrides", which was not completed until three and a half years later. On the trip, Mendelssohn Bartholdy had visited the island of Staffa with its legendary Fingal's Cave, but also experienced "the most horrible seasickness".
