On the eve of the First World War, a small Baltic Sea resort serves as the backdrop for Eduard von Keyserling's radical critique of utopia, which foreshadows the catastrophes of the 20th century. Composer Elmar Lampson lends the subtly ironic tone of Keyserling's fine social analysis a dazzling polyphony. Director Philipp Rosendahl and conductor Yoel Gamzou make the burning topicality of the material immediately tangible.
