Having presented you with the audience favorites written by Richard Strauss at our 4th Philharmonic Concert, we now turn our attention to his love of woodwind instruments. The focus here is not on musical opulence - as is usually the case with him - but on a subtle exploration of artistic means of expression. With his wonderful Romance for Clarinet and Orchestra, Richard Strauss achieved a great success even in his early years.
