Your journey begins with a lively cocktail reception at the Opera Center, where Spanish-inspired libations and bites set the mood. Then, make your way to the McCaw Hall stage, transformed into the sun-drenched streets of Seville for a three-course dinner served amidst the stunning set of Carmen. Immerse yourself in the spirit of Spain—where music fills the air, passions flare, and every moment dances with life. Inspired by the daring matador and the thrill of the running of the bulls, this is an evening of art, elegance, and adventure you won’t want to miss.

Big Opera Party

Seattle-based soprano Tess Altiveros (The Magic Flute, ‘25, A Thousand Splendid Suns, ‘23) takes us on a voyage across the ocean with a program of classical song from the island nation of the Philippines. During an eye-opening trip in 2025, Tess not only reconnected with distant family, but also learned about the rich legacy of classical art songs and arias by Filipino composers.

Joined by baritone José Rubio and pianist Elisabeth Ellis, Tess shares the contributions of prolific composers like Francisco Santiago, Sister Rosalina Abejo, and Lucrecia Roces Kasilag, as well as works by award-winning contemporary composers like Nilo Alcala and Josefino Chino Toledo.

Singing the Archipelago

Join us for a week of creativity and opera exploration! Over the course of the week, campers will work together to create original operas and, in the process, experience multiple aspects of the performing arts from singing and acting to creative writing and scenic design. The camp will conclude with a performance for friends and family.

Summer Camp: Artful Explorers

Summer Camp: Maestros

Explore behind the scenes at Seattle Opera to learn more about the process of creating an opera production and the many technical theater jobs that work collaboratively to make it happen. Participants will meet with industry professionals and receive hands-on experience in costume, scenic and prop design. They will also take on production roles to support the Teen Performance Workshop opera scenes performance presented at the end of the week.

Summer Camp: Theater Tech

Teen Performance Workshop is a week-long vocal intensive where high school students learn, stage, and perform songs and scenes from the vast classical repertoire. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their vocal and theatrical skills all while learning more about the art form of opera in a fun, supportive environment. The week culminates in public performances at the Opera Center. No prior musical or theatrical experience is necessary.

Summer Camp: Teen Workshop

Lights up! In this exciting triple-threat camp, you’ll explore opera and musical theatre while building your skills as a performer. Learn how to combine acting, singing, and dancing as you work with two teaching artists to bring stories and characters to life. From acting and character development to vocal technique and acting through song, this immersive camp is all about performing big, trying new things, and having fun onstage.

Summer Camp: Opera Remix

Adapted from the Oscar Wilde play of the same name, Salome has been thrilling and shocking audiences since its premiere in 1905. And it's easy to see why: a biblical story complete with a lecherous king, a willful princess, and an unyielding prophet is bound to get attention. Add in a power struggle, a dangerous obsession, and a dance that scandalizes audiences to this day, all set to Strauss's iconic music, and you're in for a wild and gripping performance.
