Austria was celebrating its 90th anniversary and Richard Strauss provided the appropriate music: his "Rosenkavalier" suite. It was premiered in 1946 by the Wiener Symphoniker in the Great Hall of the Konzerthaus, conducted by Hans Swarovski.
