Dutch conductor Jaap van Zweden returns with an all-Beethoven concert of uncommon delights. In Beethoven’s Second Symphony, anarchic glee subverts Classical elegance. Although audiences went wild at the premiere of the Seventh Symphony, many of his peers were less than enthusiastic. The audience knew what the so-called experts did not: Beethoven leads you where you need to go if you listen. Free your ears, and your mind will follow.
