More details
It rushes, gurgles, and bubbles, flowing freely, then slowed down or dammed up again. Thomas Adès descends into the depths of the earth, where water flows through porous rock layers, so-called aquifers. A huge orchestra transforms constant movement into sound, roaring in shimmering colors and unfolding such thrilling energy that it sounds as if the water were flowing upwards, defying the laws of gravity.
