French conductor Pierre Bleuse leads the BBC Symphony Orchestra through a labyrinth of musical twists and turns. Roxanna Panufnik’s Alma’s Songs Without Words reimagines songs by Alma Mahler for orchestra, characterising each with distinctly different styles and pushing them to orchestral extremes. Taking centre stage, Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, a mighty swan song laden with emotion.
