Leading big bands and small ensembles, he’s defined and redefined Afro-Cuban jazz for generations of listeners. A 2025 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master, Valdés blends jazz, blues, funk, Latin, classical, and African influences into a captivating musical experience.
