West Side Story is a singular, iconic musical theater work that combines the genius of Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerome Robbins, and Arthur Laurents. Based on Shakespeare’s play Romeo & Juliet, the musical stylizations draw heavily from jazz, Afro-Caribbean, and Mexican sources.
