Acclaimed Grammy Award-winning mandolinist, singer, songwriter, composer, and MacArthur Fellow recipient of the prestigious “Genius Grant”, Chris Thile is a multifaceted musical talent, described by The Guardian as "that rare being: an all-round musician,” and hailed by NPR as a "genre-defying musical genius." Thile is a founding member of the highly influential string bands Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, and has collaborated with countless luminaries from Yo-Yo Ma to Fiona Apple to Brad Mehldau. For four years, Thile hosted public radio favorite Live from Here with Chris Thile (formerly known as A Prairie Home Companion). With his broad outlook, Thile creates a distinctly American canon and a new musical aesthetic for performers and audiences alike, giving the listener “one joyous arc, with the linear melody and vertical harmony blurring into a single web of gossamer beauty” (New York Times).

Robin Pecknold is an American singer-songwriter best known as the principal songwriter and vocalist for Fleet Foxes, and has recorded four studio albums: Fleet Foxes (2008), Helplessness Blues (2011), Crack-Up (2017), and Shore (2020), along with live albums A Very Lonely Solstice (2021) and Live On Boston Harbor (2024). Originally from Seattle, WA, he has been nominated for many awards, including GRAMMY nominations for best Folk Album and for Best Alternative Music Album.

This concert launches skyward, featuring Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 (the inspiration for the score for ET), John William’s Across the Stars from Star Wars, and Valerie Pelka’s Memorias Angentinas.

Based on ancestral Huichol folklore from Mexico, Grammy Award-winning composer Gabriela Ortiz’ piece explores the Kauyamari, or “blue deer”, a spiritual guide transformed through an extended pilgrimage. The concert follows with the epic Carmina Burana, a thrilling cantata by Carl Orff, based on medieval poems celebrating the joys of life, love, and fortune. With its famous opening, O Fortuna, this dynamic work combines chorus, soloists, and full orchestra in a dramatic journey from fate’s cruelty to the pleasures of spring, tavern revelry, and courtly romance. Its driving rhythms, bold harmonies, and theatrical energy have captivated audiences since its 1937 premiere. Whether grand and ominous or tender and playful, Carmina Burana is an unforgettable musical spectacle—visceral, vivid, and emotionally charged. This performance promises an electrifying experience that showcases the full force of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in one of the most iconic and beloved works of the 20th century.

VSO: O Fortuna!

There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. Meredith Willson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.  Featuring songs such as "Seventy-Six Trombones," "Trouble," "'Til There Was You," "Pickalittle" and “Gary, Indiana," The Music Man is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

Vermont Ballet Theater returns to the Flynn! You will remember them from their highly acclaimed production of “The Nutcracker,” applauded by sold out audiences for years. Now they are back, joined by the multi-talented dancers of Vermont Ballet Theater School for a springtime Celebration of Dance! Performing a wide-ranging repertoire of classical ballet, jazz, lyrical and contemporary works performed by dancers of all ages, there is something for everyone. You won’t want to miss this dazzling, delightful, spectacular display of dance!

Celebration of Dance 2026

This Jazz intensive offers a unique focus on small-ensemble interaction and vocal-instrumental collaboration, for instrumentalists and vocalists with 2 or more years of experience who are interested in expanding their familiarity with jazz and building their repertoire. Students registering for camp will be asked to send a short recording of their playing. There will also be an opportunity for students to share a short piece, selection of scales or (for chord players) a chord progression on the first day of camp in a one-on-one setting.  While not required, this lets us learn about student skills in the interest of providing appropriate challenges.  This camp offers a unique focus on small-ensemble interaction and vocal-instrumental collaboration.

Jazz Intensive

Looking for a dynamic, skill building, performance camp for your aspiring acrobat, storyteller, or performer? Look no further than Circus Arts! Have fun with circus skills while building new performance techniques! Try juggling, plate spinning, balance games, flower sticks, human pyramids, acrobatics and (time willing) intro stilt-walking and unicycling! This week-long, full-day camp requires no previous experience and is sure to be an unforgettable week of fun! All skill levels are welcome!
