More details
Everyone is strangely drawn to Billy Budd, the handsome sailor. Conscripted to fight on a warship where the authorities are nervous of protest and mutiny, Billy Budd is a calming, shining presence. But after the ship’s policeman unexpectedly makes a false accusation against him, Billy cannot find the words to defend himself. When an actual crime is committed, the hastily arranged trial that follows is a very warped version of ‘justice’.
