The moment when there is no turning back, no “return to what was,” runs through this multi-part ballet evening. Xie Xin and Marcos Morau, two extraordinary and internationally acclaimed artists, are creating world premieres for Hamburg Ballet for the first time. The “point of no return” is explored by Angelin Preljocaj in *Annonciation*, at the moment of the biblical Annunciation by the Archangel Gabriel.

Even as a child, he felt a strong attraction to Bach's music, Giorgi Gigashvili explains. "What I intend to do with the third movement of the D minor harpsichord concerto comes from deep within me, from my heart." So, look forward to this 6th Philharmonic Concert, which questions our listening habits and brings our sympathies for Johann Sebastian Bach into the here and now through Gigashvili's interpretation of the jazzy Peterson Suite.

In Wagner's interpretation, the medieval myth about the tragic love between the Irish king's daughter Isolde and Tristan, King Mark's henchman, to whom Isolde was married against her will, becomes a key work of musical theater at the beginning of a new era. This season, the Hamburg State Opera is bringing Ruth Berghaus' legendary production from 1988 back into the repertoire.
