Chamber music in a small, exquisite format. This season's series opens with two string players: Schubert's Erlkönig-Lied, based on Goethe's nature-magical ballad, is performed here in a version for violin and viola – followed by a piece with a rare instrumentation: the violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini once took a Rossini melody for variations, here actually played by the solo double bass.
