The Italian Opera Gala in homage to Luciano Pavarotti is a highlight of the annual festival program. Here,
established and popular singers meet the winners of the Grandi Voci competition. An armada of brilliant young artists present a program that is unsurpassed in virtuosity, fame and popularity. Arias and scenes, ensembles
and duets from operas by Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti etc., such as: Nessun dorma from Turandot, La donna e mobile from Rigoletto, the Nabucco prisoners' chorus and Brindisi from La Traviata form part of the program, while the encores are rich in Italian canzones such as O sole mio. The great young opera stars are accompanied by the Oper im Berg Festival Orchestra under the direction of the Italian maestro Stefano Seghedoni.
