This time the delian :: quartet undertakes a journey through the universe of the brilliant poet William Shakespeare, starting with music: Two great string quartets of almost pictorial emotion - the Eighth String Quartet by Dmitri Shostakovich and Mendelssohn's Sixth String Quartet - form the impressive stage for Shakespeare's verbal art and meet protagonists from seven important Shakespeare plays: Macbeth , King Lear , Richard III , Hamlet , The Tempest , Twelfth Night and As You Like It . Angela Winkler - who has been associated with Shakespeare's work since Peter Zadek's legendary 1999 production of Hamlet - lends them her incomparable voice. Likewise, some of Shakespeare's enchanting sonnets develop a particularly poetic power in the interplay of word and music.
