The family epic "The Eighth Life (For Brilka)" tells the story of six generations of women in the Yashi family in Georgia throughout the 20th century—beginning in 1900, from the Tsarist era to Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the civil war in Georgia. While the novel chronicles the rise and fall of communism, it remains closely connected to the stories of its protagonists.
