An absolute highlight for Salzburg visitors and locals alike: On selected Tuesdays, the International Mozarteum Foundation invites you to a half-hour organ lunchtime concert in its Great Hall, which, with its exclusive ambience and excellent acoustics, is considered one of the most beautiful concert halls internationally. Since 2010, the magnificent hall has housed the magnificent Propter Homines organ, custom-built for it, which blends visually and acoustically with the surrounding space to create an artistic unity.

Mozarteum Foundation

This tour explores how the Mozart family lived in the luxurious apartment in the Tanzmeisterhaus. What games did they play? What animals did they keep as pets? And, most importantly, what music did they compose and play? On the tour, families will get to know Mozart's original concert grand piano and also see the Magic Flute Cottage, where, according to an anecdote, Mozart composed his most famous opera.

A few days before the beginning of spring, the CAMERATA, under the direction of Czech conductor Václav Luks, embarks on a journey back in time to Prague, to the flourishing music scene there in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Mozart, constantly striving for recognition in Vienna, experienced his happiest days as a musician during his three stays in the Bohemian capital. In the Prague orchestra, he found an excellent ensemble with which he successfully performed his highly complex, three-movement Symphony in D major, K. 504, which, according to music chronicler FX Niemetschek, has "such a fiery flow." Bohemia also boasted outstanding composers of its own, such as J.V. Voříšek, born in the year of Mozart's death and, like him, already in his mid-thirties. Voříšek's only symphony, with its no less "fiery" energy and colorful instrumentation, evokes a "Bohemian Beethoven." CAMERATA audience favorite François Leleux will also play the romantic, charming oboe concertino by Prague's JW Kalliwoda, with its horn-sounding introduction.

For four mornings, the Mozart Residence will become a musical museum. In the historic Dance Master's Hall, stories and music blend into a unique experience. As lively melodies and delicate sounds fill the space, images of a bygone era emerge: How did Mozart live, work, and make music here? Charming anecdotes and fascinating insights bring him to life as a person—full of wit, curiosity, and musical genius.

The Sounding Museum: The Mozart Women

The name says it all: Bach's solo sonatas meet the Bosnian sevdalinka . It's curious to see the similarities in tonal language and style between the masterpiece of a genius and the songs of Bosnia's cities, honed over generations. Violin and accordion merge from solo instruments into a harmonious duo. On their cross-country expedition, the two musicians explore both historical depths and geographical latitudes. In addition to ethnic music from all over the world, they perform classics of the concert literature and their own compositions. The journey leads from sacred spaces and concert halls to balls and festivals and even to pubs. Wit and joy of playing combine with perfection and virtuosity.

Right in the middle of the action. Listen, hear, participate – music opens up a new world of diverse sounds for even the youngest children. The shared experience of music is the focus. Each program is unique and features different instrument groups. The focus is sometimes on the voice, sometimes on percussion, strings, plucked instruments, or wind instruments. Inclusive concepts ensure that every child – with or without special needs – feels included. Music, visual design, and tactile impressions enable a holistic experience.

The St. Matthew Passion is one of the most moving works in music history. It condenses human suffering, compassion, and hope into a musical language of overwhelming expressiveness. Bach composed this Passion not merely as a retelling of Christ's Passion, but rather as a musical drama that deeply touches and thrills the listener, raising questions of guilt, love, and redemption. Two choirs, two orchestras, soloists, and an evangelist interweave to create a spiritual Gesamtkunstwerk of rare magnitude. A work that leaves one speechless—and speechless before its depth.

In 2024, she won the coveted UBS Young Artist Award: the young, up-and-coming cellist from Salzburg, Julia Hagen. In addition to the opportunity to perform with the Vienna Philharmonic under Christian Thielemann at the renowned Lucerne Festival, which the press hailed as "brilliant," the award places the talented, full-blooded musician in an illustrious gallery, including names such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Sol Gabetta, Martin Helmchen, Vilde Frang, and Kian Soltani, for whom the award has once opened the door to international careers. In the master concert at the Mozarteum Foundation, the artist and her piano partner Annika Treutler will devote themselves to the cello works of great composers, including a detour into the world of fairy tales.

Glenn Miller Orchestra: Swing Forever

"It's the music that counts," says Elisabeth Leonskaja, who always places her personality behind the composition and creates great things through music alone. Born in Georgia, then under Soviet dictatorship, and raised in the legendary Russian piano school, Leonskaja used a concert visa in 1978 to emigrate to Vienna, where she has lived ever since and from where she launched her career as a pianist on all the major stages of the (Western) world. Now the "Grande Dame" at the piano joins the CAMERATA to imbue Beethoven's combative C minor Concerto with her legato playing and expressive power. This first symphonic piano concerto in music history is framed by two of the most beautiful natural musics. Russian-born conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, who has since conquered the major orchestral landscape from early music, leads the CAMERATA in Mendelssohn's Scottish impression of the "Hebrides" Overture and in Beethoven's "Pastoral Symphony," which he entitled "Memories of Country Life."
