After four illustrious years, Nicholas Milton retires as Chief Conductor of the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra. The gala concert begins with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, one of the most magnificent creations of the Romantic era. After a painful struggle between opposing moods, typical of Tchaikovsky, it culminates in a whirlwind celebration, at the end of which even the power of fate is brought to its knees.
