This April, this season’s curator Mahan Esfahani concludes his traversal of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier with the second volume. This monumental collection includes 48 pairs of preludes and fugues in all 24 major and minor keys. Despite the title, the cycle was not written for any specific keyboard instrument—Esfahani will perform it on his instrument, the harpsichord.
