Wyoming Symphony Orchestra

This intimate concert showcases the Baroque and Neoclassical eras alongside contemporary American voices. Works include Jessie Montgomery’s energetic Starburst, Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, and Stravinsky’s playful Pulcinella Suite. Guest violinist Megan Karls joins the orchestra for Bach’s Violin Concerto in A Minor, with additional selections from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings RV156.

Life

Casper College

A powerful blend of historical reflection and emotional depth defines this program. Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture opens the concert with bold spirit, followed by Joan Tower’s 1920/2019, a musical tribute to the centennial of women’s suffrage and the evolving role of women in society. The evening concludes with Rachmaninoff’s passionate and deeply personal Symphony No. 1.

The season finale features a celebration of American voices and symphonic grandeur. Valerie Coleman’s Seven O’Clock Shout, written in honor of frontline workers during the pandemic, leads into Peter Boyer’s patriotic Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue, performed by guest pianist Jeffrey Biegel. Howard Hanson’s choral-orchestral Song of Democracy and Respighi’s sweeping Pines of Rome bring the season to a majestic close.
