All of the works on this concert pay homage to great predecessors. Heitor Villa-Lobos’s set of Bachianas Brasileiras is a tribute to Bach, transformed through the lens of his South American roots. The lush and evocative Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 has become famous for its beautiful, swoon-worthy melody and echoes the famous "Air" from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3.
