A concert that spans five centuries! From the Baroque, we go back to Henry Purcell's musical reinterpretation of fellow countryman Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" from 1692. It is a title we usually associate with Felix Mendelssohn, but in the hands of Purcell, the play has become a so-called "semi-opera" under the title The Fairy Queen.
