Castle , one of Thuringia's most important fortresses, towers above Eisenach and offers insights into German history and culture. Founded around 1067 by Ludwig the Springer, it served as the residence of the Landgraves of Thuringia and is both an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of historical events. Legend has it that Ludwig proclaimed the castle's construction with the words, "Wait! Mountain, you shall become my fortress!"
