Verdi’s Il trovatore blazes with passion, vengeance, and the unstoppable force of fate. At its heart is a search for identity, as each character struggles to confront who they truly are, and the secrets that define them. Adding to this is also a fierce love triangle, Leonora: the noblewoman seeking love and the lengths she will go for it; Manrico, the troubadour raised by the mysterious Azucena; and Count di Luna, leader of the military force, consumed by obsession and revenge against Azucena and Manrico. As past secrets collide with present rivalries, Verdi’s electrifying music drives the drama forward with soaring arias, stirring choruses, and unrelenting intensity. In the shadow of 15th Century Spain, political machinations, true love, revenge, and obsession come full force. Known by opera lovers and newcomers alike through the Act II “Anvil Chorus”, Il trovatore is a true modern grand opera, full of political intrigue, mistaken identity, love, revenge, obsession, and onstage battles! A co-production with Vancouver Opera.

Created by The Old Trout Puppet Workshop and Pacific Opera Victoria Artistic Director Brenna Corner for Vancouver Opera, this inventive production of Hansel & Gretel creates a wildly imaginative, visually stunning, and magical retelling of Humperdinck’s beloved opera.  When the siblings lose their way in the forest, they enter a world of towering puppets, magical creatures, and the irresistible lure of a dangerously delectable gingerbread house. Lush music and playful humour intertwine with Old Trout’s signature puppetry, turning the opera delightfully on its head while honouring the heart of the fairytale. At once enchanting and surprising, this production celebrates resilience, family, and the enduring power of love, inviting audiences of all ages into a magical operatic adventure.

The Magic Flute is Mozart’s dazzling tale of adventure, enlightenment, and the transformative power of music. When Prince Tamino falls for the mysterious Pamina, he undertakes a perilous quest to find her. He travels through enchanted realms, guided by a flute whose melodies can charm animals, shift moods, and reveal truth. Alongside the spirited bird catcher Papageno, he confronts deception, faces mystical trials, and discovers the deeper meanings of love and virtue. Filled with soaring arias, radiant harmonies, and striking theatrical imagery, The Magic Flute celebrates imagination and the human search for wisdom and self knowledge. An unforgettable journey into a world where music unlocks the path to harmony.
