Please join the Early Music Ensemble for an evening exploring the idea of chamber works, featuring Telemann's Trio Sonata in A minor and arias from Handel's Alcina, alongside Machaut's Messe de Nostre Dame. We highlight the performance of pieces by small ensembles, underscoring the connections made between performers, and performers and audience, in small, intimate settings.

The UQ School of Music throughout the year promotes excellence in performance and composition by inviting students to participate in a range of competitions. This concert will feature the students who won the 2026 Ethel Osborn, Richard Pollett and Burnett William Wendorff performance prizes.

Prize Winners Concert

Nine Coloured Deer is a 1981 animated film (directed by Qian Jiajun and Dai Tielang) based on 1600-year-old paintings in the Magao caves, Western China. Shenshen Guan has composed a new score informed by the music notation also found in the caves, which is performed by Sketch Ensemble with Shenshen and guest Guzheng virtuoso Nana Liu.
