More details
When the composer Claude Debussy died in 1918, Stravinsky sat down at the piano and improvised a slow series of solemn chords. It became the first sprout of the composer's Symphonies for Wind Instruments – a series of mosaic-like movements, played by colorful wind instruments, which gradually move towards the original chorale. It is music carried by a purifying energy.
