The concert opens with one of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s symphonies from his youth, which still points back to the composer’s great role model – Mozart. And because our orchestra has extensive experience with them, we can expect a virtuoso experience. The counterpoint will be Bartók’s popular Romanian Folk Dances from Transylvania. The innovative dramaturgical treat of the evening will be the lesser-known works of our composers Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček, which can be heard when next to one another.

We can rightly boast that our concertmistress Ludmila Pavlová is not only a capable leader of our orchestra, but also a brilliant soloist. She will present her art in one of the most popular violin concertos of all time. The concert will also feature a delightful and playful divertimento by Mozart and Michael Haydn, the younger brother of the famous Joseph Haydn. The evening opens with one of the symphonies by Josef Mysliveček, who became famous in his time, especially in Italy, and Mozart himself did not hesitate to call him his role model.

A musician of tremendous emotional power, depth and expressiveness, Ivo Kahánek has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting artists of his generation and is the Czech Republic’s most acclaimed pianist. He is universally recognised as one of the foremost interpreters of Romantic piano music and is a particular specialist in Czech repertoire. He possesses a rare gift of creating an immediate and compelling emotional connection with his audiences.
