Join Orchestra Santa Monica for the opening concert of the 2026-27 season, featuring the World Premiere of a new commission by Jason Anthony Gomez, OSM’s first-ever Composer-in-Residence.  The program also includes Vaughan Williams’ lyrical Oboe Concerto with Santa Monica native and LA Phil Principal Oboe Ryan Roberts in his OSM debut, followed by Brahms’ monumental Symphony No. 1, one of the greatest achievements in the symphonic repertoire.

Experience one of the most inspiring works ever written as Orchestra Santa Monica presents Beethoven’s pinnacle achievement, Symphony No. 9, “Choral,” featuring the SoCAL Chorale (Marya Basaraba, Music Director) and an outstanding cast of vocal soloists.  The program opens with Mozart’s sparking Concerto for Two Pianos, showcasing acclaimed pianists Eva Schaumkell and Vijay Venkatesh.  From Mozart’s elegance to Beethoven’s triumphant “Ode to Joy,” this unforgettable evening celebrates the power of music to unite and inspire.

The evening is anchored by William Walton’s powerful Symphony No. 1, a gripping 20th-century masterpiece renowned for its intensity, passion, and exhilarating conclusion. Internationally acclaimed violinist Stefan Jackiw joins the orchestra for Samuel Barber’s beloved Violin Concerto, a work of lyrical beauty, heartfelt expression, and dazzling virtuosity. Concluding the evening on a lighter note, Stefan returns to perform two unforgettable favorites: Jacob Gade’s fiery Tango Jalousie and Ennio Morricone’s nostalgic and deeply moving Cinema Paradiso. From sweeping romance and breathtaking virtuosity to cinematic nostalgia and triumphant orchestral grandeur, this concert offers an extraordinary range of musical emotions and the perfect celebration to bring our season to a memorable close.
